alwayscuriouser asked: Between the Fuji X100, Fuji X-Pro 1, and the Sony NEX-7.... Which doyou think would be the better choice. With over all image quality andprice range. Or any other suggestions?

I can really only speak to the x100 directly. I wrote my review of it here. I’ve had it about 15 months now and it’s still my favorite bit of gear i’ve ever owned. I’m still wowed by what comes out of it and it really has just become part of my body—since i have it with me at all times.

I’ve considered the X-Pro1 because I got to give it a good look over when my partner in crime doug got one. i have no logical argument to prove this but it feels less cohesive than the x100. the weighting isn’t there. it sticks out more. people tend to ignore the x100 thinking it’s an old film camera, i’m not sure that’s true with the X-Pro1.

all that said, I think if i can find the funds, once the X-Pro2 (or whatever) comes out i’d seriously consider it because i expect they will have refined away most of what bugs me about the X-Pro1.

The very first thing i’d do with any xpro is get my ass into some leica glass. combining the fuji sensors with leica glass seems like a dream to me. yes, i’d have to use the EVF to focus but who cares. i can’t afford a leica and i probably never will be able to so that’s my way in.

i haven’t seen much of the sony, but i’ve seen what comes out of the fuji sensors and in my opinion they monkeying they are doing with the AA filter is the future of digital.

every camera company in the world needs to rethink how it handles anti-aliasing because fuji is just kicking their asses for image sharpness.
